10 year old murder investigation. Case goes unsolved. Police develop a person of interest.

Fast Forward to 2024. New witness comes forward that POI has confessed to them. Police want to use witness to make a one party consent call to ultimately gain incrimination statement for POI or even admission.

Problem: The Investigation officer says I don't have it documented by a vaguely remember 10 years ago when this first happened that POI invoked right to counsel.

Question: Even based upon officers vague recollection does this invocation still apply? Do we need to do anything new or do the request have to be re-asserted? Is it stale?
