Seems I recall reading somewhere - some time - long ago - that an ADA cannot also hold an elected position, i.e., as a member of a local city council. Am I completely off base here? I searched the forums and couldn't find a previous related thread. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

There was an AG opinion a few years back regarding ADA serving on school board. (LO-89-82) That letter opinion may have been what you are remembering. At the very least, that may serve as a starting point for you.
