Guy is pulled over and arrested for a DWI. Officer sees open container in the car and searches the car for other open containers and weapons within lunging distance. There is a laptop in the passenger seat and officer searches the laptop. Finds child porn. Was the search of the laptop unreasonable because the officer had no reason to suspect there was child porn? Or was it okay because courts have found it acceptable to open containers during searches and a laptop is analogous to a container? Does anyone have an case law either way? | ||
