Today's occurrence in Beaumont was a poignant reminder for me of the dangers of being a lawyer and that I cannot always be comforted by the thought that a particular defendant will be much older by the time he gets out of prison.

I think it shows the benefit of sending a letter (when possible) rather than declining a case in person.
