Nicole Richie Quickly Sprung From Jail

LOS ANGELES Nicole Richie was released from jail Thursday after serving 82 minutes of a four-day sentence for driving under the influence of drugs.

The reality show star, who checked into a women's jail at 3:15 p.m., was released at 4:37 p.m. "based on her sentence and federal guidelines," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Maribel Rizo said without elaborating.

Even worse is Lohan's sentence - one day in jail, 10 days community service (?), and drug rehab. She pled to 5 counts, 2 of which were DWI, and she was in possession of cocaine.

Maybe that explains why the BAC-refusal rate in California is so low (see this thread)--the consequences of being found guilty are so minor why not take the test?
