This week, the Georgia appellate courts said it was OK to record phone calls from the jail and use them in trial against the defendant. Of course, you do have to warn the defendant that he has no right to privacy in the phone call. Our jail digitally records all conversations and includes a taped message at the beginning about it being monitored and recorded. On a couple of occasions, we have obtained confessions by the defendant or attempts to get someone to destroy evidence or silence a witness. Pretty good stuff. Do you use such recordings? | ||
