District Attorney Larry Morse II was apparently an unintended target of three adults and a teenage boy suspected of shooting several people with a paintball gun, police said.
Morse was jogging near his home when he was shot in the back Tuesday. He was uninjured and chased the suspects in his car.
Officers arrested John McKay, 21, Juan Gonzalez, 22, Nicole Cox, 20, and a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of a felony charge of conspiracy and misdemeanor battery. They allegedly shot at four other people throughout Merced, said Sgt. Andre Matthews said.
McKay and Gonzalez were being held in county jail without bond Tuesday. Cox was being held in lieu of $7,000 bail.
"I shot a man w/ paintballs, just to watch him dry."
