A Spring woman was convicted today of injury to a child after Harris County prosecutors proved her young son underwent at least two unnecessary surgeries.

Laurie Williamson 40, faces as much as life in prison as prosecutors began the punishment phase of the trial this afternoon. Jurors are expected to hear witnesses through Friday and into next week before determining punishment.

Prosecutors and child welfare officials have said Williamson has Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare disorder in which a person fabricates or induces symptoms in others to gain attention.

Details.

[Congratulations on some hard work.]

Good job. Too often those never even make it to the prosecutor. Must be a good relationship with your officers.
