Following mental health commitment hearings, the court assesses court costs as permitted by statute. Many of these cases have been final for some time (years) without payment of the court costs & it is likely the court costs will never be paid.

Do you think the Court has authority to go back & sua sponte waive court costs assessed that have never been paid? Please let me know your thoughts why / why not. Thank you.
