Petitioner files a petition for expunction. In that petition, he lists 7 different offenses from 5 different arrests over a 4 year period. (Assume these are all misdemeanors acquired while petitioner was in college and now he wants to clean up his record. Also assume he can legally obtain each expunction.) Question: Is there any legal objection to a petitioner listing multiple arrests over a number of years in one petition for expunction - because this is causing confusion with so many arresting agencies and the different courts involved? I have not been able to find any guidance on this. Thanks for any input.

Assuming that the court in question has jurisdiction over each of the 7 different offense (offense or arrest happened in the county), then they could all be listed on one petition. We've always treated this as a matter of the court's discretion -- the court could require that they be filed separately, for the reasons of confusion you mentioned, but if the court's fine with it, I don't know of any legal way to stop it.
