My county currently maintains a courthouse security fund as well as a justice court security fund since the JP courts are located outside of the courthouse. This November, however, all of the courts will be centrally located in a new courthouse building, thus doing away with the need to have a justice court security fund. Since the justice court security funds can only be used for security reasons for courts located outside of the courthouse, once the courts are centrally located, does the balance of the justice fund have to sit untouched until the commissioners court decides to move the JP courts outside of the courthouse again? Or, is it appropriate to transfer those funds into the courthouse security fund for use by all of the courts in the courthouse?
