Anyone have any experience with companies that offer to find "reimbursement opportunities" for county services. They put them as county services that are eligible for "Federal Financial Participation." They take a cut of whatever money they bring back to the county from their professional assistance. Our Sheriff has a company that they've been contracting with for these services and it's up for renewal. Any thoughts?

We have always worked with our local Council of Governments to locate and try to obtain federal and state grant money. They get a little cut, but I would guess it's not as much as a private sector company would take. They do good work for us, and since we work with them frequently, we've built up solid trust in them. And they don't require us to renew contracts each year. The work is done on an as-needed basis. They periodically make us aware of funding opportunities, but they don't charge for that notification.
