One of our Troopers had a women come to him with an order from a Louisiana court authorizing her as the lawful custodial parent to take possession of a child. The putative father (mother was not married to father) took the child for a visit and promptly took the kid to Texas. The order has language about the police escorting Mom to the man's home. The local PD refused to get involved, so she came to us. The Trooper told her she should consult an attorney. She did and the attorney took the LA order to the county court and got a court order to seize the kid. I plead total ignorance about child custody issues. I told the Trooper to tell her to take the order to the County Attorney. Any assistance on how these situtations should be handled would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me privately if you wish. Thanks, Janette A | ||
