Does anyone have a brilliant system by which you deal with inmates who have a trust fund balance when they are released? We have quite a bit of unclaimed money from these folks, and it appears to me that we would need to send it in to the Comptroller. This involves mainly checks that were issued upon release for a few dollars and maybe even a few cents, although there are some substantial amounts involved.

The sheriff would like to say no refunds under $5.00. I think that is also problematic, given the cases and AG opinion that I have read. Thoughts?
