OK the bank our county uses is finally doing away w/cancelled checks. They just send us a copy of them in our statement w/out actually returning to us the cancelled checks. My treasurer said in her seminar, somewhere, they talked about the issue. She said they are required to keep the checks so long before she, as the office holder, may destroy them. Problem is we NEVER get the checks back, only copies. Those of you in big counties probably have been letting the bank destroy them for years. If so, tell me what your policy is whether stated policy or de facto. Thanks.
