I have a situation where the JP awarded a vehicle, which had been seized for abandonment and stored in a facility, to the county. A couple of days before the hearing, a person claiming to be the owner, but without clear title, turned up. He appeared at the hearing, but the JP found he didn't have title and awarded the vehicle to the county. Now the claimed owner is appealing to county court. I have a couple of questions. 1) Since this is a civil matter, does the county attorney have any responsibilities in the case at all (if not, who represents the state??) 2) My JP assigned a large appeal bond, but the Transportation Code seems to prohibit that. Any advice would be appreciated! | ||
