The defense has given us notice that they are going to use Dr. George Glass, a psychiatrist from Houston, in a murder case to opine that alochol consumption by a diabetic not taking insulin can result in bizarre behavior. Our victim was an alcoholic diabetic and the defense is going to rely on self-defense. Has anyone heard of him or have any ideas re a source for some rebuttal expert testimony?

I am responding to your post, not as a prosecutor, but as a diabetic. You might try contacting an board-certified endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes. Such a physician will have a thorough understanding of the effects of alcohol on diabetes, particularly the synergistic effects of alcohol when combined with insulin or certain glucose-control drugs such as Glucophage and the nine or ten other most commonly prescribed drugs for Type II diabetics. These diabetics often don't use insulin. Good luck, Janette Ansolabehere
