A local law enforcement agent wants to obtain a photograph of a juvenile who is suspected of commiting a series of burglaries in the area. Several eye witnesses are available to look at a photo lineup if a photo can be obtained. The law enforcement agent does not want the juvenile to know he is the focus of the investigation, so the officer does not want to pick up the juvenile to get the photo. Instead, the officer wants to gain access to the juvenile's probation records from a previous adjudication. I have been trying to find a way around the confidentiality rules relating to these records, but can't find an exception yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?
How about a school / yearbook photo? Is the kid old enough for a DL? You could probably get that from DPS. The school counselor / administration office may have a photo in their records.

We just recently had the same issue - finding photos for a juvenile photo lineup. We thought about the yearbook, but the school resource officer did one better. The school takes photos of everyone for their student ID's. The resource officer not only found our suspects, but was able to put together a lineup for us.
