I have a defendant that died while in Mexico. We need a copy of his death certificate to dismiss the case. Has anyone ever obtained one from Mexico??? Any ideas / suggestions???

I would call El Paso D. A.s' office and ask for assistance from an investigator.

We have had this problem a couple of times in our office. What we did was contact the American Consulate (if your defendant is American). They will take care of everything for you. They got us the death certificate plus the fingerprints of the deceased for comparison to confirm the ID. Just contact the one closest to the city where the defendant expired. Good Luck, Phillip

Thanks, Phillip. Actually, that is exactly what I did. I contacted the Mexican Consulate's Office in Dallas. They sent me the address & phone number for the USA Embassy in Mexico City. If anyone else can use it, here is the address & phone numbers that they provided to me: American Embassy in Mexico City Paseo de la Reforme 305 Colonia Cuauhtemoc 08500 Mexico, D. F. tel: 011-52-55-5080-2000 fax: 011-52-55-5525-5040 Hope that helps if anyone can use it...you never know.
