Investigator Board Elections Info you need to know Each year at the February Investigator School, the members elect 3 new members of the TDCAA Investigator Section to the Board of Directors. The term of office runs for three consecutive years. If elected, you must know and understand that your fellow investigators are investing in you their trust and confidence to carry out the tasks and obligations you are asking for. Membership on the board should not be a popularity contest or a way to gain a pretty plaque for your wall. It is the opportunity to work hard, to grow professionally, gain new and valuable skills, and take a hand in directing the future of your profession and association. The main focus for the Board is training for the investigator section. The board also manages the affairs of the section, including the 2 scholarships and other awards made each year. The board works in conjunction with the TDCAA parent board and the Key Personnel board to provide resources and training for DA/CA Investigators in the state of Texas. If elected to the board, you WILL have the following commitments: 1. 2 meetings in Austin to plan training (paid for at your offices expense). These usually occur in Oct/Nov and March/April. They are all-day meetings and, if you are not from near Austin, include overnight travel. 2. Attend both the Investigator School and the Annual. There are two meetings at the Investigator School and one at the Annual. You will usually need to arrive one day early in order to make the meetings. (Travel is reimbursed by the association) 3. Be available during both schools to assist the Association and fellow board members with logistics, training, and last minute problems. 4. Frequent communications with fellow board members via email, fax and telephone. 5. Responsibility for suggesting training topics and speakers that meet the needs of our membership. 6. Communication with other investigators regarding the affairs of the board, planned events, training topics, etc. Any full member in good standing can run for election. Candidates will need to give a 2-3 minute speech during lunch on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2006. Immediately following candidate speeches, the membership will vote. Potential candidates - before announcing your intent to run YOU MUST CONSULT WITH YOUR ELECTED to KNOW that you have his/her support! What is expected? A.
