Almost no private law libraries have included bound copies of the U.S. Reports (ever). That was why the Supreme Court Reporter and Lawyer's Edition existed and why the locations of opinions in those sources were routinely cited. Now digital copies of the U.S. Reports are readily available and you can see the print version on the SCOTUS website if you want. Thus, the new trend, or even requirement, is to cite only to the U.S. Reports. So, how long will it be before one or the other or both of the alternative sources will cease "publication"? They are not gone but are largely forgotten.
