Nothing like Texas, which refuses to remove itself from the days of the old west, with people carrying guns around and criminals being executed. I hear some sheriff's still post people out of town.

A single death is a tragedy, 1600 deaths is a statistic, to paraphrase Joseph Stalin. So the death penalty is a tragedy every time, while murder rates are just statistics. Therefore, the only real victims are the convicted murderers. Maybe the anti-DP folks have merely embraced the teachings of Uncle Joe?
