I can not cite you to any cases right this moment, however, Sec. 46.02 (a-1) describes when it is an offense to carry in a motor vehicle or a watercraft. There is no mention that the handgun must be concealed in a compartment, or in fact how it is to be concealed. Watercraft such as bass boats and jet skies have few compartments. A motorcycle is a motor vehicle. In my opinion as long as the person is in a car, in a boat or jet ski, or on a motorcycle, as long as it is concealed it is ok under the statute even if it is concealed in his pocket or under his shirt tail. The operator's problem becomes what is his status when he conceals the handgun in his pocket and he gets out of the boat or off the jet ski or off the motorcycle to walk somewhere in public, say to the car at the public boat ramp?
