UPDATE: 4 prison murders so far this year

The early July killing of inmate Richey is now in the books.

On July 1 at the Byrd Unit (Diagnostic Unit), 59 year old inmate Richey, serving 99 years for Possession of Methamphetamines and 50 years for Robbery was beaten by new arrival, Walker, a 27-year-old convict serving a 3, yes, 3 year sentence for assault family member. Richey was found unconscious on the 3 row run. He was transported to the freeworld hospital in Conroe, but didn't make it.

So now, there have been 180 Texas prison killings since folks started keeping track.
