I've got a copy of a defendant's Florida driver's license. On the face of the DL, at the bottom, is the following statement:

"Operation of a motor vehicle constitutes consent to any sobriety test required by law."

Sounds to me like a great way to educate the public.

Texas has the same consent law. Problem is that consent does not equal compliance.

With our Legislature's DWI philosophy, any similar message would also surely include the following: "But, you don't [i]really[i] have to do any of this stuff!" Maybe a little graphic showing a nod and wink to go with that.
