Is anyone having problems with Ritalin abuse? Does the drug have narcotic effects?

I think it is a central nervous system stimulant, like meth or amphetamine.

It is methylphenidate - a psychostimulant, and while it has legitimate medical uses both with children and adults, has significant addiction potential. Side effects in addition to weight loss, and the behavioral effects of a stimulant (in high doses) could include cardiac arrest! No side effect would likely affect competency/sanity, moreover, intoxication - if present - would be voluntary.

Its been popular with juveniles for years and years. The little darlings have even figured out that if you crush them and snort the powder you get a faster and more intense "rush", at least they think so anyway.
